Diagnostic surgery may be used to help diagnose cancer through biopsy or determine the stage or extent of the disease.

Robot-assisted surgery integrates advanced computer technology with the experience of skilled surgeons. This technology provides the surgeon with a 10x magnified, high definition, 3D-image of the body's intricate anatomy. The controls in the console allow the surgeon to manipulate special surgical instruments that are smaller, as well as more flexible and manoeuvrable than the human hand. The surgeon is thus in complete control of the surgical procedure. The robot helps replicate the surgeon’s hand movements, while minimizing hand tremors. The surgery is thus operated with enhanced precision, dexterity and control even during the most complex procedures.



Surgical Oncology scales new heights with Fluorescence Guided Surgery

Fluorescence Guided Surgery (FGS) is a new technique adopted by APCC to perform lifesaving surgeries that completely remove tumours buried in the area of the brain which are not easily accessible.

In this technique, a special dye which is ingested an hour before the surgery, spreads over the whole body. Highly active cells like tumour cells absorb the dye more when compared to normal cells. This guides the surgeon to clearly distinguish the tumour from the healthy areas, minimizing damage to the brain and avoiding post-operative complications. The greatest advantage of this technique is that it clearly identifies the tumour and distinguishes it from the healthy zone. This technique marks a significant progress in the field of Neuro-Oncological surgery as it enables removing of the tumour with high accuracy.


Modular OT

It is a recognized study that Surgical Site Infections (SSIs) are the most common among Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and we are always concerned about infection prevention in our ORs. To completely eliminate the threat of SSI, we have to maintain the highest level of cleanliness & hygiene in our Operating Rooms (ORs). With the increase of patient load and interventions in ORs, it has become even more difficult to clean, disinfect and prepare ORs for surgeries in short times. Therefore, we have an immediate demand of ORs having ease in cleaning and disinfection, having smooth surfaces, flush installed components and basically an organized workplace where surgery could be performed in high sterile environment at all times.

There are several factors responsible for SSI including improper hand washing/ scrubbing, not properly maintaining sterile/non-sterile zones, improper clothing/masking etc but such factors could largely be eliminated by religiously following the OR guidelines. At the same time, good construction of OR and vertical laminar air flow (Ultra Clean ventilation-UCV) system are also equally important to reduce the number of bacteria/particles counts which ultimately reduces the risk of SSI significantly.

Needless to mention that True Modular, Pre-fabricated Operating Rooms mentioned above is the demand of today because of its several advantages over other ORs construction methods. True Modular, Pre-fabricated Operating Rooms are supplied as individual ORs as well as complete Operating Room Department on turnkey basis including scrub areas, sterile/non-sterile corridors, preparation rooms etc. and it is basically the hospital’s choice to opt individual Modular Operating Rooms or the whole OR complex.

The standard scope of supply for True Modular, Pre-fabricated Operating Room is self-supporting structures, SS 304 (NCS) wall system, automated/manual doors, modular ceiling system, Laminar Air Flow (UCV), control panel, digital/analogue X-Ray viewers, flooring, scrub station, cabinet system, however, several other equipments/components i.e. ceiling supply units, special sandwiched glass windows with roller or motorized venetian blinds etc. may easily be incorporated as per specific requirement. The complete system including all equipments & components comply with stringent respective European directives, DIN-EN, SWKI, ISO standards which ensure the highest quality, safety and reliability of system even after many years of usage.

In such Modular ORs, all the wall mounted equipments/components are flushed within the wall and are not projected outside and thus cleaning of all the surfaces is quite easy. Fast repair/maintenance and future expandability are the key features of wall system as the hospital does not need to close down Operating Room for weeks or months for any minor or major repair/expansion works because with openable (highly rugged) panels such alterations, repairs could be completed quite fast. There is no dirt and dust in the Operating Room while performing such repairs / alterations / additions as structure and panels both are made of steel.

The initial cost of such True Modular Operating Rooms appears to be higher in comparison to other conventional or cladding systems but such True Modular ORs prove to be economical in the long run considering all facts i.e. lesser breakdowns, faster repairs, lesser downtime, easy integration of future systems, quality performance of system ensures better operating results and faster recovery of patients.
